Are there problems with the water jet type tubs?
My contractor says that the water jet tubs have a problem with retained water in the pumping system and spew used, smelly, sometimes black moldy water. He suggested air jet only. I had a Jacuzzi at another house and that’s exactly what happened but I thought it was just because it was an older model and assumed they had taken care of that problem. Have they fixed that problem? If I go air jet, is it pretty much the same feel as water jet?
He’s right. I was so excited when my new house had a jet tub, and the first time I used it after the sale (it had sat for 8 months)… grOOOSssss!!!
Another issue is the water quality where you live. If your water is hard, has a lot of tanins,calium or other chemicals that can build up, it can affect efficiency.
yes, there have been recent reports of people’s jet tubs causing illness. The jets don’t get cleaned and get bacteria and mold build up. You might try running some water with a couple cups of chlorine bleach through the tub (without you in it) on a regular basis.
Air jets would be a bit better, but only if sealed and you can clean the parts that touch water easily. If any place for water to sit, it will have the same problem.
Don’t know about feel. I’ve never compared.
