Fridge drain blocked. again! Any ideas on why? and preventing more of the same?
Hi all, I have a Samsung 280lt standard 2 door freezer on top of fridge. About a year old for my new apartment. 4 months after I bought it, it starting leaking water from the air vent. Called a repairman. He showed me that the drainage was blocked inside. He chipped out the ice and poured some hot water down. All good.
Now, 8 months later, same problem! Knowing what he did last time, I’m guessing I can probably fix it myself by turning off the fridge for a while (2 days be enough you think?) and let it thaw out into the pan.
Problem is… it’s annoying!!! Is it a problem with the fridge you think? Or something to do with the conditions of my house? I keep the temp pretty warm in here. And I tend to stack my freezer pretty full. Either of these could contribute?
I’ve seen some comments about a drain heater to prevent this. I know jack about electrical stuff, so don’t really know where to start. Is it worth looking into for a tech ignoramus like me?
If you keep the freezer stacked full, then it probably can’t circulate the air correctly helping to contribute to the frost build-up freezing your drain.
Dont stack it too full. That is probably the whole problem. rearange things in there and see if that helps. goodluck.
While the compressor and fans are running , take a few minutes to see if water is dripping down from the evaporator and if so, you have a sealed system problem and the water will refreeze, clogging the drain. Call somebody competant for service.
