How do I clear an outside drain that runs under my conservatory floor?
There is an old cast iron pipe with the bath and sink running into it. Halfway down the house this empties into a length of plastic pipe which goes under my conservatory floor and empties into the drain below. My bath water comes out of the join between the types of pipe, so there must be a blockage in the drain somewhere. How can I unblock this drain?
Sounds like a job for roto rooter. Maybe a snake or a chemical but I would go with the roto rooter guy.
A good old fashioned plunger works well!
If not, get some cheep rods or just use a bit of old packing nylon to puggle about a bit.
Chemical solutions may help as they’ll dissolve the blockage.
If all else fails… a drain man!
(It will cost less to buy your own set of rods than get a professional in… but there’s no guarantee it’ll do the job!)
Check to make sure the next manhole down (Maybe next doors property) isn’t blocked too and backing up to yours.
good luck.
You can buy a cheap set of drain rods and then clear the blockage with them-
